  • No, physiotherapy is considered primary care BUT some insurance companies still require a referral, so I recommend checking with your current policy provider

  • Bloom Integrative Health and Movement Centre does not offer direct billing. You submit your paid invoices after each session.

  • — If you have pain at any point during your pregnancy, you can book anytime, but an internal examination may not initially be a part of the assessment, especially during the first trimester

    — If you are seeking birth prep strategies, have any aches or pains and want a pelvic floor assessment, you can book as early as 20 weeks.

    — If you want tips for staying active and maintaining your fitness level or you want to learn strategies for becoming more physically active, you can book a visit early in your pregnancy!

    *Staying active throughout your entire pregnancy is not only safe but recommended as there are so many benefits for you and baby!

  • Typically you should plan to book your first visit at 6 weeks postpartum. But, it is never too late to start, no matter how far along you are in your postpartum journey!

  • — At the initial visit, we review your history, your primary concerns, and what your goals are

    — We go through a physical examination to help rule in or rule out possible diagnoses and obtain a baseline for where you’re at

    — A treatment plan will be discussed, including frequency of visits, home exercises, etc

    — During follow-up sessions, we will progress though the plan and modify as we go

    — Bring your phone if you are able - we’ll use your phone to record you doing the exercises/stretches so you always have the correct cueing and form to reference

  • — The initial visit may include a physical examination of the pelvic floor muscles through a vaginal exam

    — A thorough explanation of why we do the exam, what is involved in the exam, the benefits and risks of performing the exam, consequences of not doing the exam, and alternatives will be discussed in order to obtain your full informed consent

    — Consent can be removed at any point during an exam - you are in the driver’s seat!

    — In addition to seeing how your pelvic floor muscles are functioning, we will also always consider the rest of your body during movements since so many things can impact how your rehab and recovery go

  • You absolutely can come to your physio appointment even when you are menstruating, but if you’d prefer not to, that’s okay too! Just be sure to call and reschedule your appointment within 24 hours.

  • Yes! Movement is medicine. We will also discuss lifestyle modifications and other strategies to best optimize your physiotherapy rehab and recovery.

  • Wear running shoes and comfortable loose clothes - nothing restricting as we’ll be moving around

  • I do not see patients who need this unique care, but send me an email and I can connect you with great clinicians in the area who do.
